Planting Season ^_^

Hello! EEK! I have been doing an awful job of updating this blog. I am going to try to do better - at least weekly updates! ^_^  I am waiting on my honey-bunny to get home so we can go purchase a new tiller for our garden. It hurts to drop a wad of cash on one but we grow a decent sized garden so a tiller really is a must. I am so thrilled really, planting season is soclose! I was finally able to hunt down some Greasy Bean seeds for this year's garden. I am really ecstatic because I haven't had them in a very long time, since I lived in the mountains of WNC. Of course, they had to be ordered on the internet - another reason I just *love* the interwebs!

I also purchased a pressure canner. I already own a hot water bath canner and I am quite familiar with using it but pressure canning is new territory for me. I have always been intimidated by pressure canning but there's a much broader spectrum of things that can be safely canned this way so I have decided to take on the challenge. I actually got a pretty good price on it too, they typically seem to be running between $90-$100 in stores but I purchased mine online (again, I *love* the interwebs) for around $70 and that included shipping. This is the one I ordered:

Sooo... in a nutshell, I am prepping for growing season and super excited about it! So far we have decided that we will be growing squash (summer, zucchini and maybe eggplant) , onions, cucumbers, a variety of peppers, tomatoes, greasy beans and probably some okra. A gorgeous, low-carb garden!!  We may decide to throw a few other things in. It's going to be a bountiful year ^_^

Here's a pic of our garden from last year, that sunflower was over 6ft tall!!
